The ID treatment of Alila Kothaifaru Maldives successfully presents a holistic and well integrated design approach that exudes an understated elegance that is befitting of a luxury island getaway. The design strategy draws reference to its architectural design concept of ascending horizontal landscape terraces. Well proportioned vertical and horizontal lines in the ceiling treatment and porous screens effectively lead the eye towards the expansive openness of the outdoors. Using the natural colour palette of its surroundings, the project features sustainable and naturally derived materials such as light toned timber, rattan weaves, stones and sand to compose a space that is well detailed, minimalistic and harmonious
