Singapore Architect

The jury is impressed with the Design Team’s effort in utilising a relatively locally untested material- Mass Engineered Timber in the tropics on an extensive urban scale. The proposal presents an important architectural statement through its innovative use of off-site prefabrication technology and its architectural articulation of simple geometries and rhythm through a gradually curving layout plan. The Architect’s attention to detail and experimentation is also evident in the extensive research and mock-up testing to ensure technical considerations such as structural, fire, moisture, termite protection and the building’s acoustic treatment needs are achieved.
