The Punggol Soka Centre presents a sophisticated urban response to a challenging corner site. The design massing is compelling in its ability to integrate and meet the programmatic requirements of its users, while simultaneously introducing a continuous set of surprises in its public circulation areas within a tight plot. Ascending from street to sky via its connecting courtyard spaces, a sense of interiority and calm is achieved in spite of the building’s actual proximity to a busy road. The jury commends the Architect’s masterful play of proportion and amalgamation of volumes throughout the building and  their evident sense of craft in the meticulously well placed apertures that frames various moments of pause and circulation within the building.
