The Jury commends Temasek Shophouse for transforming a historic building into an active and inclusive urban gathering place.

The retention of original structures, openings and spatial characteristics allows the building’s heritage to remain legible, while new interventions support contemporary community and social uses. Of particular note is the activation of the rear garden and the creation of a sequence of welcoming shared spaces.

The project demonstrates the place-making potential of adaptive reuse within the city.
